Frequently Asked Questions

How does the credit scan work?

After you provide the required information and authorize the credit review, SafePrequal.com obtains your credit information through a soft inquiry via our API with iSoftpull.com. Our system then analyzes relevant characteristics of your credit profile and compares them against a series of qualification filters developed from years of experience in both consumer and business unsecured lending.

Those filters look at the credit characteristics that can matter when evaluating potential unsecured credit options. Rather than relying on a credit score alone, the scan considers multiple elements of your overall credit profile and uses them to identify options that may be appropriate for you.

What do the results consist of?

Your results provide a summary of what we found during your credit scan along with credit options that may fit your profile. Depending on your credit characteristics, those options may include recommended credit cards, personal loans, or other unsecured credit products.

Think of the results as a starting point rather than an approval. We are showing you potential options based on the information available through the SafePrequal credit scan. If you choose to pursue an offer, you will complete a separate application with the applicable lender or card issuer, which will make the final approval and pricing decision.

What is a 'softpull' of my credit?

A soft credit inquiry—sometimes called a “soft pull”—allows your credit information to be reviewed without creating the type of hard inquiry typically associated with applying for new credit. We have a direct API with iSofpull.com, a trusted credit data provider. The SafePrequal.com credit scan does not affect your credit score. If you later decide to apply for a credit product shown in your results, however, the lender or card issuer may obtain its own credit report and perform a hard inquiry as part of that application.

Which credit bureaus do you use?

SafePrequal.com currently uses Experian for its credit scan. We do not need to pull reports from all three credit bureaus (Experian, Trans Union, and Equifax) to complete our review. If you have placed a security freeze on your Experian credit file, you will need to temporarily lift or remove that freeze before submitting your information for the SafePrequal credit scan. Otherwise, we may be unable to access the credit information needed to complete your results

How do I get a new link?

If you submitted the form on https://safeprequal.com/prequal and have misplaced the link to your results page, please email credit@safeprequal.com to request a new one. We will reissue the link to you within 24 business hours. Remember, your dedicated results link expires 30 days from the day you submitted the form. Once your link expires, you'll need to submit the form again. Do not share the link with anyone else. The results are unique to only your Experian credit file.

Is my information safe?

Protecting your personal information is an important part of how SafePrequal.com is designed. We use security measures intended to protect the information you provide and limit its use to legitimate purposes associated with providing and operating the SafePrequal service. Because a credit scan requires sensitive personal information, you should always make sure you are using the official SafePrequal.com website before entering your information. For additional details about how information is collected, used, stored, and shared, please review our Privacy Policy.

Will my information be sold?

We do not sell your personal information you submit on SafePrequal.com. Information collected through the service is used to perform your credit scan, provide your results, operate the service, and support the other purposes described in our Privacy Policy. If you choose to pursue a credit option presented in your results, you may be directed to or choose to provide information to the applicable lender, card issuer, or other provider. Their collection and use of your information is governed by their own terms and privacy practices.

Are you a lender or a broker?

CWF Enterprises LLC dba SafePrequal and SafePrequal.com is not a lender and does not make credit approval decisions or fund loans. We also do not set the interest rates, credit limits, fees, or other terms offered by lenders or card issuers. SafePrequal.com is a technology and prequalification service designed to help consumers better understand their credit profile and identify potential credit options. If you decide to apply for a product presented through SafePrequal, the application is made with the applicable third-party provider.

How is this free?

There is no charge to you for using the SafePrequal.com credit scan. Running a soft credit inquiry actually costs us money, but we believe letting you explore potential options before applying creates a better credit-shopping experience. We may receive compensation from a third-party provider if you choose to apply for a recommended credit card, loan, or other product and are approved. That compensation helps us provide the SafePrequal.com service without charging you a fee.

Am I guaranteed to be approved for the options you show me?

No. SafePrequal.com results are intended to help identify credit options that may fit your credit profile, but they are not a guarantee of approval, credit limit, loan amount, interest rate, or other terms. If you decide to apply, the lender or card issuer will evaluate your application under its own underwriting criteria and make the final credit decision. That process may also involve a hard credit inquiry.
